How much does it cost? ~
The days
when the cost of living in Alaska was significantly higher than the
Lower 48 (that's a Sourdough term you'll hear often as you travel throughout
Alaska and if you aren't a Sourdough you're a Cheechako) are
gone.
True,
the cost of fresh vegetables, milk, eating out and some speciality items
remains higher. However, generally speaking you can most likely expect
to pay the same or just a little more than you're used to paying when
you're visiting larger cities.
Outside
of the larger cities costs will be higher because of the cost of bringing
in goods.
More specific
pricing may be obtained in the Official
State Vacation Planner.
Do you
have comments or experiences you'd like to add on this subject after
your visit to Alaska? Drop me a note
and I'll add it here if it seems appropriate.
